O Allah! Increase us in knowledge!

Is the Quran called الحديث ‘al-hadeeth’ ?

Bismillah, alhamdulillah: Yes, in the sixth verse:

Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow. – Surah Al-Kahf 18:6

Here the word حديث is translated as message. Literally the word means anything that is spoken about. The word occurs in the Quran in this sense in the following verse:

And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together – Surah Al-Nisa 4:140

Another example of its use report or account as is in the following verse:

Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?
